The Governance of Biodiversity (GoBi) Project

The Governance of Biodiversity project was launched in 2004 to assess the management and governance of biosphere reserves around the world and identify its success and failure factors. Up to 2010, the young academic group headed by Prof. Dr. Susanne Stoll-Kleemann is being supported by the Robert Bosch foundation.

GoBi uses a variety of empirical social research methods, such as literature review, a meta-analysis of 170 articles, 13 case studies in biosphere reserves on four continents, 170 expert interviews, as well as a global telephone survey of 229 biosphere reserve coordinators in 79 countries. Results have been and are being published in international journals and books.
