The Biosphere Research Platform

The Biosphere Research Platform is a response to the keen interest among biosphere reserve researchers and practitioners to get in touch with each other - sharing lessons learned between sites, finding twin sites for projects, discussing common challenges, or getting access to the latest research on their topics.

The Biosphere Research Platform will be designed to provide an interactive environment for scientific exchange within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. As such, it contributes to the creation of a global clearing house for biosphere reserves as envisaged by the Madrid Action Plan (2008-2013).

The Platform shall assist users to

  • Find and provide scientific expertise and literature on various aspects of biosphere reserve management
  • Establish contact to researchers and professionals around the world - quickly and easily
  • Share project ideas, research questions, results and more

We look forward to developing this unique space of exchange for research - for you and with you!

The Biosphere Research Platform: Get Involved

The Biosphere Research Platform will be a free service for biosphere reserve scientists and professionals. It shall become a shared space of exchange, owned and moderated by its users.

In order to make sure our website suits your needs, interests and skills, we wish to involve you as closely as possible. We know you have ideas of how such a platform could or should look like, and we are looking forward to developing a shared vision together.

There are many different ways how you can get involved:

  • Click here and register now!

  • Share your ideas
    • What do you want to know about research in biosphere reserves?
    • What do you believe other biosphere reserves can learn from you?
    • What type of internet communities do you use, and what do you like about them?
We highly appreciate any input - spontaneous or elaborate - in English, German, French or Spanish. Email: br-plattform@uni-greifswald.de
  • Tell your colleagues. Does your tourism manager have a specific question? Do you know an NGO that would like to introduce its projects? Do you work in collaboration with a university that would like to publish its research work on your biosphere reserve? Please do not hesitate to invite them!
  • This project is funded through the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation with resources provided by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
